Obituary of Mary Jane Alexander

ALEXANDER – Mary Jane, 85, of Cresson, formerly of Belsano, where she enjoyed living for 83 years, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2024 at home. Born June 15, 1938 in Belsano, daughter of the late Robert and Laura Gordon. Preceded in death by husband, Clifford; siblings, Robert (Mary) Gordon, Doris (Fred) Mitchell, Sheila (Kenneth) Stevens and Vada Garcia; and sister-in-law, Karen Gordon. Survived by children, David (Linda) Alexander; Susan (James, Jr.) Leleck; Amber (Stephen) Zavatski; and Paul (Barbara) Alexander. Grandchildren, Dave (Sonya) Alexander; James (Colleen) Leleck; Jake Alexander; Jesika (Sean) Nazarak; Sharon Alexander; Ryan Leleck; Katie (Mike) Richardson; Becki (Joe Noack) Zavatski; Eric Alexander; Stephen Zavatski; and Lynn (Clayton) Kensinger.  14 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Joseph Gordon; brother-in-law, Frank Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Nanty Glo Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. Her faith was very important to her and she was very giving to various organizations during her lifetime. Mary was a dedicated elementary school teacher at Blacklick Valley for over 30 years. She was a world traveler and loved traveling with family and friends. Mary enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, the Belsano parades; and playing her piano. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, Pastor Russ Havener, officiating. Interment to follow at United Brethren Cemetery, Belsano. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s memory may be made to C. & M. A. Church or to The Nanty Glo Public Library.
