Preceded in death by his mother, Esther Jane (Reighard) Wasser, maternal grandparents, Roger and Ruth Reighard-Jervis; paternal grandfather, Robert "Ike" Wasser, and uncle Robert Wasser, Jr. Survived by his wife Margaret Ann; children: Justin, Kaitlyn, and Brianna, all at home. Joe, a 1983 graduate of Central Cambria High School, dedicated his life to supporting his town, his family, and his friends. A life-long member of the Dauntless Fire Company and a veteran of the United States Army Reserves, Joe possessed a passion for service and a fervent desire to help his fellow man. Joe was also a member of the Revloc Fire Company, County and District Fireman's Associations, and Hazmat certified at the technician level.
Joe carried the skills, preservation, and discipline taught to him through his life experience with him in everything that he did. As owner and sole-proprietor of his auto-mechanical business, Wasser Auto Service, he showed a love of his work and a dedication to excellence rivaled by few.
He was a man of a few words, but those who knew him laughed with him heartedly and those who served with him loved him fiercely; for that he will never be forgotten. Though never at the forefront or in the spotlight of the things to which he dedicated his life, his presence was always felt. And to those surviving him, his presence will forever be felt in their hearts and in their minds.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc, Ebensburg, where a fireman's memorial will be held at 7:00 p.m., and a vigil prayer service later in the evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery.
